Notre Dame (9) vs Louisville
Monday, September 2 nd, 8:00 PM at Cardinal Stadium
Swinging Johnson: This week Doug Upstone and I will deviate from our regularly scheduled plan of NFL debate to dip our feet and then render our college football picks.
It will most likely be the first and only time this year we do this, as the last week of display NFL soccer is somewhat lackluster compared to a regular-season sport of NCAA football featuring one of the greatest clubs in the country, plus a mythical football program to boot up, Notre Dame.
Without further ado, lets begin the discussion after my friend Doug Upstone got the better of me last week while I supported the Titans. Weve been placing wins forth and back so it looks like its my turn to the golden wreath, as I will accompany the squares laying the lumber on a road favorite and endorse the Irish.
After reviewing the school football odds almost six days before this Monday night event, I see that the line has spiked a half-point on the favorite, starting at Notre Dame -19 1/2 to where its currently offered at a solid -20 across the board whatsoever of the best online sportsbooks.
I like the Irish but you are leaning in this battle to the Cardinals. Besides the venue, why is it that you think Louisville will hang with the boys in South Bend?
Doug Upstone: Yup a triumph and IMO, said a lot about the Steelers and Titans management. Lets move to football, where the matches count and will our recordings on this one.
Recall those Thursday night games Louisville utilized to play against competitions that are big-name? They held their engineered and own upsets. These were fun games to see and also the Cardinals were a thrilling golf club.
But for example the former Papa Johns Stadium as well as its fake (in real life) owner, Louisville football last season was worse than a three-day-old pizza.
Scott Satterfield worked wonders and will be out to alter the culture and win matches. This will not happen right away as the ability level is down in theVille. However this is a significant moment for Louisville, a team that has the opportunity to start taking actions in the right direction.
Ive read in which the Cards trainers have popped up the slow mechanisms of QB Jawon Pass (great name for a QB) and I enjoy Hassan Hall since the lead running back. Than having a ticket for the Colts at OVER 9 for season 23, the shield, well, that makes me more worried. You have up your Irish please dont forget.
Swinging Johnson: The Cardinals wont be doing as the Notre Dame defense will keep them snug in their nest flying into this match. Scott Satterfield is in the big leagues and he has a group coming off of a dismal 2-10 album last year in which they went winless in ACC activity. This rebuild is comparable to taking a hot air balloon and seeking to turn it.
While this may eventually happen, the problem is that Louisville is facing a team that made it into the CFP this past year and owned only one of the stingiest defenses in all of college football, surrendering just 17.2 points within the normal season and moving a perfect 12-0 until they met Clemson from the CFP semifinals. The offense was clicking on all cylinders as well, averaging over 33 points per match.
My query is, just how will be a quarterback like Pass whos slow to release, designed to gain any traction against a swarming shield that is Irish? Particularly when hes working with a new trainer and an offensive strategy that is entirely new?
Please, Doug, rescue me Im lost! I find no way, shape or form where Louisville is going to have the ability to keep up with this Golden Domers and Im desperate for prodigious handicapping experience and your sage wisdom!
Doug Upstone: Well, Swinger, I am happy to read in your last sentence you are coming around to the bright side of sports gambling, or you are just being the identical wise a** you are. Ill allow the SBR readers that are making school football selections decide on this. I am the first to understand Louisville was, however 1-11 ATS and completely sucked last season.
But that team COMPLETELY gave up on coach Bobby Petrino, just like he composed to the Atlanta Falcons. A new attitude is brought by A trainer and with this being a game, Satterfield will sell his team. Louisville does have to trust the Irish will take them and never have a lot of fight.
Lets also consider, Brian Kelly using gold and all the blue is ATS as a road favorite, also a ATS, when dishing out more or 20 digits. This defense you said might improve as the year progresses but substituting five starters, even whenever you dont/can not recruit like Clemson or Bama, it is going to take time.
Swinging Johnson: Well Doug, I was becoming a bit facetious because although youve got an impressive handicapping resume, you miss the mark from time to time. And in this situation, because Louisville may be better compared to last season but I would submit that they are coached with a Rhesus monkey and enhance upon their document left by an trainer such as Petrino, you happen to be shooting blanks.
I know that laying nearly 3 touchdowns on the road is square biz for sure along with Joe Q. Public never got rich by betting the heavy road chalk, but sometimes the public is correct, and in this case they certainly are. Until once we get down on our NFL Game of the Week next week, lets see what happens on Monday night once the Irish come prepared to squint at Louisville.
Free College Football Pick: Swinging Johnson — Notre Dame -20 (-110)
Free College Football Pick: Doug Upstone — Louisville +20 (-110)

Doug Upstone: Yes and a win IMO, it said a great deal about the management of the Steelers and Titans. Let us move ahead to real soccer, in which the matches rely and so will our records on this one.
Remember all those Thursday night matches Louisville utilized to perform against big-name opponents? They held their own and engineered upsets. These were enjoyable games and the Cardinals were an club.

Scott Satterfield is in the big leagues and he has a team this past year, where they went winless in ACC action coming from a dismal record. Just like he composed on the Atlanta Falcons but coach Bobby Petrino was given up on by that team COMPLETELY. A new mindset is brought by A coach and with this being a federal match, Satterfield will market his staff. Louisville does have to trust not and they will not be taken by the Irish for granted have a lot of fight.
Lets also think about, Brian Kelly with the gold and blue is ATS as a road favorite, also a mere 7-9-1 ATS if dishing out 20 or more specimens. This defense you mentioned might improve as the season progresses but replacing five starters, whenever you dont/cant recruit like Clemson or even Bama, it is going to take some time.

Houston Texans 28-30 New Orleans Saints: Wil Lutz leaves it late for Saints with 58-yard field goal

Uncategorized

November 25, 2019

Wil Lutz made a 58-yard field goal as time expired to lift New Orleans Saints to a victory over the Houston Texans.
A 37-yard touchdown pass drove to Saints receiver Kenny Stills with 37 seconds left, capping a 75-yard driveway that set the Texans after they started their final possession down with 50 minutes left by six.
However there was an 11-yarder into Michael Thomas and yet another pass yards in sequence, only enough time Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who capped a two-touchdown performance by completing a pass to Ted Ginn Jr.
That allowed New Orleans to rescue final timeout until two seconds remained and set up the career-long kick of Lutz.
The 40-year-old Brees completed 32 of 43 moves. He threw one interception deep in Houston land but did enough to compensate for it.
Brees seemed to have all but sealed it when he seen Ginn down field on third and two and connected to the Houston 44 to get a profit at the warning.
Alvin Kamara, that had 169 yards from scrimmage, followed by the 11-yard run, before a 47-yarder was transformed by Lutz, along with the Saints ran the clock down to 55 seconds.
Watson finished 20 of 30 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns, two of these to DeAndre Hopkins, and conducted for a 21-yard dent on a playwith.

Nevada legalized sports gambling in 1949 alongside live and off-track horse gambling. It had been the first state to govern sports gambling, which had formerly functioned under organized crime syndicates. It was the only nation to do this until recently.

Congress passed the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 1992, which prohibited future state growth of sports betting. Nevada was grandfathered in, so it was essentially handed a lawful US monopoly on single-game wagering.

States eventually began to challenge that federal ban, however, spearheaded by New Jersey lawmakers and Gov. Chris Christie. Beginning with voter approval in 2011, NJ tried to pass legislation that would have legalized sports gambling at casinos and racetracks. Sports leagues — the NBA, NCAA, NFL, NHL, and MLB — filed suit against the state to obstruct the efforts, however, citing a violation of PASPA.

The ensuing legal battle escalated all the way into the US Supreme Court, finally reaching a settlement on May 14, 2018. A majority of the nine-member court ruled the PASPA commandeers states in breach of the Tenth Amendment, striking the ban in the novels.

As a result, Nevada’s US monopoly on sports betting has seen its last days. Eight other countries offer you a vast selection of legal sports stakes.

Oscars 2019 Best Picture Winner Predictions

Uncategorized

November 25, 2019

Together with the Oscars right around the corner, it’s time to take a look at which movies have the best shot of winning Best Picture. This is formally the most unpredictable awards race in recent memory. From the a variety of industry guilds, no movie won several top prizes for the first time in history. Two Eighth Grade and, of those victors Would You Forgive Me? (the Writers Guild winners), are not Best Picture nominees at the 91st Academy Awards, entirely flummoxing even people who have been calling the Oscars for years. It genuinely is anybody’s ballgame, which adds an element of intrigue. In certain ways, it is more interesting this way than at a usual year when one or two frontrunners emerge far ahead of the bunch.
Now, it is probably easier to state what won’t win, but we’re going to attempt and create sense of the Best Picture field. Here are the eight films in the running rated from most likely to least likely to take the gold statue home.
Alfonso Cuar??n’s romantic, semi-autobiographical look at a middle class family’s maid’s life in Mexico City is rightfully one of the most acclaimed movies of 2018. It scored the most Oscar nominations of any movie this year (10) and has had lots of success in the precursors. Ironically, nearly all of its notable wins would be for Cuar??n’s leadership, but Roma was also received Best Picture at the Critics’ Choice Awards and the BAFTAs. This is a film that just about everyone agrees is exceptionally crafted and well-acted, meaning it ought to succeed on the preferential ballot. Academy members have enormous regard for Cuar??n, and Roma’s pair of acting nominations imply it struck a chord with the actors division – the biggest Academy branch there is.
