Tom George has been currently plotting a transition into novice pursuing for 2 of his celebrities.
Black Op, winner of the 2018 Mersey Novices Hurdle, first put on a pursuing campaign last season, but reverted back after two defeated on efforts to the hurdles.
The eight-year-old completed a creditable third on his debut and followed that up with another third-placed end in the Grade Two Dipper Novices Chase at Cheltenham.
Then he spent the remainder of the season finishing fourth and third in the Cleeve and then Select Hurdles respectively in addition to some 12th-place ending in the Stayers Hurdle.
George now intends to reevaluate his original strategy, confirming that this fall, Black Op will return to run on fences.
Hes good, he is in shape, George stated.
Hes been coaching nicely and hes not far away a run. Theres a strong chance he will run at (owner) Roger Brookhouses local class, which is Stratford, in a two-and-a-half-mile novice chase.
He will definitely be moving over fences, he added.
Things went against him a bit a year ago – that the ground was too company and we could not get him out. So we are starting from scratch and we are going to come across a race.
Hes been schooling using Henrietta Knight and everybody is quite delighted with him
Brookhouse is an integral proprietor for George, with 2018 Supreme Novices Hurdle winner Summerville Boy also in his care.
The seven-year-old hasnt registered a victory since that Cheltenham performance, last year struggling in a handful of Graded races.
At which he was sixth behind Nicky Hendersons Buveur his season finished at Punchestown.
Everything went wrong last year really, stated the Slad-based trainer.
He was just defeated six lengths by Buveur DAir in Punchestown, though.
He has been education over fences and certainly will go novice chasing.
He is close enough prepared, he has always jumped a weapon greater than he jumps a hurdle because hes got more respect for them. He will go for a two-mile novice chase
