Sheffield Wednesday ahead Fernando Forestieri has failed in his appeal to overturn a six-game FA ban for having”abusive” speech in a friendly match against Mansfield.
Forestieri was found to have used”violent or insulting” words which included an”aggravated breach” because they”included reference to cultural origin and/or colour and/or race” from the game July 24, 2018.
Mansfield defender Krystian Pearce claimed he heard remarks during the game in Mansfield’s One Call Stadium however Forestieri went at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court to trial and was found not guilty.
On the other hand, the FA recognized there was enough evidence to charge Forestieri with breaching FA Rule E3(two ) and in June he was banned for six matches, fined #25,000 and cautioned as to his future behaviour.
Forestieri appealed from the decision but the ban, and will start with immediate impact has been upheld by The FA.
Although he will miss the Carabao Cup second-round tie against Everton on September 24, he is ruled by the suspension from upcoming Championship games against Wigan, Fulham, Middlesbrough, Hull along with Huddersfield.
Sheffield Wednesday state they are”very disappointed” with the decision of The FA’s Appeal Board.
A club statement read:”Sheffield Wednesday acknowledge the decision of the regulatory appeal panel.
“We further acknowledge that Fernando Forestieri will be unavailable for the next six first-team fittings.
“The club and the participant are extremely disappointed with the findings of the commission when Fernando was acquitted concerning the same episode in a court of law earlier this season.”
