Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has struck out following a summer of renovation job at the San Paolo Stadium at the state of the rooms, five times prior to the Champions League Group E opener against Liverpool.
The Serie A club, who recently completed runners-up behind Juventus in Italy’s top flight last season, played their first two league games of the effort against Juve and Fiorentina while work on the stadium was continuing.
Napoli host Sampdoria on Saturday, while Champions League holders Liverpool traveling to Naples on September 17.
“I have observed the state of the dressing rooms in the San Paolo. There are not any words,” Ancelotti said in a declaration.
“I accepted the club’s request to play the first two matches away from home to enable the job to be completed, as has been promised.
“You can create a home in two months, but they weren’t capable of renovating the vanities! What exactly are we now supposed to have changed for the matches against Sampdoria and Liverpool?
“I am shocked at the incompetence of these people in control of the job.
“How could the Region, Municipality and Commissioners fail to honor the commitments that were made? It smacks of disregard and also a scarcity of a bond with all the city’s team. I am dismayed.”
Footage published on the twitter account of Napoli shows there’s extensive building work to be performed within the rooms, using their clash with Liverpool five days away.
The works, namely changing video surveillance in the San Paolo and room improvements, were assumed to be completed by the middle of September.
Liverpool will start the sixth European title after their win against Tottenham’s defence at Madrid when they travel to Italy.
