Milwaukee continued its recent street dominance with a narrow 141-140 win in Sacramento on Wednesday, and is now unbeaten up in nine away contests entering Friday night’s game at the Staples Center.
The Bucks have also expanded their lead atop the Eastern Conference standings, in which they now sit 2.5 games ahead of the second-place Toronto Raptors. However, Milwaukee holds just a slight advantage over Toronto on the possibility to win the Eastern Conference, where they are pegged as +170 favorites on those NBA lines, while the Raptors closely track as a +180 wager.
With little recent playoff success to their credit, the Bucks also lag on the NBA championship odds. Milwaukee has failed to win a playoff series in eight trips to the postseason since 2001, and paths both the Raptors and the heavily favored Golden State Warriors with +900 chances to claim the town’s first NBA title since 1974.
Despite possessing an NBA-best 47-14 SU record, the Bucks also have emerged as a shaky wager on the NBA betting odds. Milwaukee has coated in just a few of its last seven contests, finishing a 6-0 from the spread run, but has regularly rewarded bettors during its present 9-0 SU tear over the street, covering eight occasions.
The Bucks have driven their torrid street pace with stingy defense, surrendering fewer than 100 points in five of the past nine off competitions, and have also claimed success by double-digit margins in seven of those excursions.
This is awful news for a Lakers squad looking to reestablish its fading playoff hopes by submitting consecutive wins for the first time since January 17. The Lakers are coming off a 125-119 triumph over the visiting New Orleans Pelicans since 6.5-point favorites around the NBA chances, and have recorded SU wins in three of four home dates.
However, there has been little else for fans of this group to converse about. Los Angeles has stumbled on a 5-10 SU listing in the 15 games since the group last posted consecutive victories, and appears toward Friday’s competition shrouded in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, three games back of the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers at the race for the last playoff spot in the West.
But despite falling so far out of the playoff picture, the Lakers have maintained surprising resiliency on the NBA playoff odds. In addition to monitoring only the Warriors as well as the Houston Rockets as a +900 bet to claim the Western Conference title, the Lakers have also held steady on the NBA championship chances at a surprisingly powerful +1100. If the Lakers’ recent performance on the NBA odds is any indication, the clock is ticking on their lofty position on the NBA futures. Los Angeles has covered just once in its past six games, and is a dismal 5-10-1 ATS in its previous 16 home dates.
