Sri Lanka players opt out of Pakistan tour over security concerns

Ten Sri Lanka players also have chosen not take part in their nation tour of Pakistan due to security issues.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have verified ten opted not to attend the excursion, such as Evaluation and one-day skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, Twenty20 captain Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews.
Sri Lanka are expected to perform three ODIs and three T20 games across September and October, along with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the tour would go ahead regardless.
As part of the World Test Championship in December,” Pakistan hope to sponsor their very first Test on the team bus at Lahore that saw two civilians and six security staff murdered and six players of Sri Lanka.
The players were briefed about the security situation in the country from SLC’s chief security advisor and given the liberty – ten’ve retreated nonetheless although just Suranga Lakmal was on this team bus.
The players were Kusal Perera Niroshan Dickwella, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Suranga Lakmal and Dinesh Chandimal, together with Kusal Mendis to injury.
The PCB said:”We know and respect the prerogative of SLC to select the very best available players for the upcoming tour.
“Just as we’re concerned, the tour is around and we look forward to welcoming the Sri Lanka team in Karachi later this month.”
Both associations agreed to bring forward the leg of the split series and push the two evaluations to take place.
