Ten Sri Lanka players also have selected not take part in their state’s upcoming tour of Pakistan due to security issues.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have confirmed ten opted not to attend the tour, such as Test and one-day skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, Twenty20 captain Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews.
Sri Lanka are expected to perform three ODIs and 3 T20 matches across September and October, along with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the tour would go ahead regardless.
As part of their World Test Championship in December,” Pakistan expect to sponsor their first Test on home soil as a 2009 attack on Sri Lanka’s team bus in Lahore that saw two civilians and six safety staff murdered and six players.
The players were briefed about the security situation in the country by the chief security advisor of SLC and given the freedom to choose whether to go – ten’ve withdrawn although just Suranga Lakmal was on this team bus.
The players opting out were Kusal Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Suranga Lakmal and Dinesh Chandimal, with Kusal Mendis due to injury.
The PCB stated:”We understand and respect the prerogative of all SLC to select the best available players for the upcoming tour.
“As far as we are concerned, the tour is on and we anticipate welcoming the Sri Lanka team in Karachi later this month.”
Both institutions agreed last month to bring this split series’ limited-overs leg forward and push the two evaluations, initially set to take place in October.
With the team playing home games at the United Arab Emirates pakistan did not host international awards for six years following the 2009 assault, but they’ve hosted teams including West Indies and Zimbabwe recently.
