Russell Wilson continues his bid for Its Most Valuable Player award when the Seattle Seahawks host the Baltimore Ravens Only live on Sky Sports Action and Main Event on Sunday.
There can be absolutely no doubting Wilson is currently playing at an MVP level.
Patrick Mahomes seemed to be and could be Wilsons biggest competition. But, his injury on his right knee on Thursday Night Football – a crushing setback for the league – has definitely entrenched Wilson at the top of the heap.
Wilson was arguably streaking before the injury to Mahomes, although there are arguments to be put forward for Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey.
Before the Kansas City Chiefs interview with the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, Wilsons passer rating of 124.7 was already 12.8 points higher compared to the next best player in Mahomes.
Through only six matches to date this season, Wilson has accounted 17 touchdowns – three racing and 14 departure – and is to throw one interception.
His typical 284 pass yards per game, 72.5 completion percent, nine-yards-per-attempt moderate and passer evaluation are all career-high marks.
And these numbers arent a consequence of any specific scheme that matches any game-managing Wilson, or some other greatness .
Quite the opposite. This Seattle Seahawks team is carried by wilson. And he does finishing the most difficult throws so while attempting and, more often than not.
According to Next Gen Stats, Wilson cries outside the amounts on 59.3 per cent of his attempts – the maximum rate in the NFL – and that he finishes 70.5 per cent of these shouts, a mark most quarterbacks will be content with on easier check downs. Also gone are the days that Wilson had to do everything. Its no coincidence that the only time in his eight years at the NFL Wilson has failed to make the match was at 2017, when he accounted for every single one of those Seahawks offensive touchdowns.
Teams understood if they can bottle Wilson up – a job said than – that Seattle didnt have anybody. Thats not true for 2019, with his 504 yards and Chris Carson through six games helping take some of the heat off Wilson.
However despite Wilsons individual victory, along with the nice start to the year of also the team, the Seahawks are not getting moving slightly unnoticed at the crowded NFC West.
The Los Angeles Rams may well be in the midst of a three-game losing streak, but they are still new off a Super Bowl run last year, although the San Francisco 49ers have taken out to a 5-0 start – one of just two groups in the league still unbeaten, along with the New England Patriots.

Even the win over the Rams in Week Five, in particular, was a statement game, with Wilson casting against the NFC champs of a year for 268 yards and four touchdowns. An MVP-worthy performance.
