UFC 224 Preview, Picks: An Exciting Card With Appetizing Betting Opportunities

Uncategorized

September 14, 2019

It is simple for lovers and sport bettors to miss UFC 224 while awaiting CM Punk’s redemption fight at UFC 225, the champion vs. champion match-up in UFC 226 or the rumored Georges St-Pierre vs. Nate Diaz bout at UFC 227.
That would be a mistake.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is becoming an exciting fight card with intriguing alternatives for gamblers looking to parlay prelim fights with main-card bouts. The actual cash on this card will be made by betting on stoppages, decisions or the over-under on rounds; not on digging to discover underdogs to lose money on.
[Editor’s note: You can follow Kel at @KelDansby. Dansby is author for ABC 13 at Las Vegas and co-host of The Corner Podcast along with Andreas Hale. The tradition covers boxing, mixed martial arts and pro wrestling by a Hip Hop generation’s view.] UFC 224: Nunes vs. Pennington, Preview, Betting Picks: Nunes vs. Pennington, Souza vs. Gastelum, Okeinik vs. Albini and much more UFC 224: Nunes vs. Pennington, Preview, Betting Picks: Nunes vs. Pennington, Souza vs. Gastelum, Okeinik vs. Albini and much more Let us begin with the card’s most important event women’s bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes (-1400) and Racquel Pennington (+800). Pennington enters UFC 224 to a four-fight winning streak, with her last loss coming from split decision to former bantamweight champion and present featherweight contender Holly Holm.
That streak of achievement will jump off the page to people hoping to bet on a title underdog to upset a champion that nonetheless has a lot to prove, but if you dig deeper you find that Pennington’s streak is a bit of a mirage.
“Rocky” has just stopped two of her last 10 opponents. The two of those opponents, Jessica Andrade (strawweight) and Ashlee Evans-Smith (flyweight), are currently competing in weight reduction classes. Pennington needed a split decision to defeat Bethe Correia, which isn’t a terrific vote of confidence for all those hoping she’ll conquer Nunes.
Pennington’s latest wins were against Elizabeth Phillips along with a deflated Meisha Tate — equally also coming by decision. The cherry on top of the”don’t fall for the underdog narrative” cautionary tale is that the fact that Pennington has not happened since November 2016 and has been thrust to this title battle.
The winner Amanda Nunes has been much more striking in her last 10 fights, which explains why she’s such a heavy favourite.
Since the Start of 2016, Nunes retains two wins over Valentina Shevchenko, a first-round submission of Miesha Tate and Sara McMann, and a totally demolishing knockout of Ronda Rousey.
Actually, the only individuals to take Nunes beyond the first round of a fight was Shevchenko and Cat Zingano, who ceased Nunes with strikes in UFC 178.
Nunes has increased a lot since then and the wise cash points at her stopping Pennington in two and a half rounds that’s presently in -135. If the rounds frighten you, but wish to still put money on Nunes, subsequently Nunes by TKO in +120 is a much safer way to play with it. (Note: all likelihood herein come from William Hill.)
There is a threat with this bet. Pennington has just been stopped once in her career, coincidentally also in the hands of Cat Zingano. For individuals with their hearts set on betting the puppy, Pennington losing by decision (Nunes by UD in +325) is your best option because the figures say that an upset is not happening on Saturday night.
Speaking of live puppies, the UFC 224 co-main is where creative bets can lead to cashing a substantial ticket.

NEW BOUTS ADDED TO UFC LONDON INCLUDING RETURN OF JOSEPH DUFFY

Uncategorized

September 14, 2019

On Wednesday, the UFC held a media conference for the coming UFC Fight Night 147 card, which takes place March 16 at The O2 Arena in London, England. A number of bouts have been shown with this card, including the most important event between Darren Until and Jorge Masvidal and the co-main event between Leon Edwards and Gunnar Nelson, and at the press conference the UFC shown the latest batch of preliminary bouts.
Joseph Duffy vs. Marc Diakese, UFC Fight Night 147
Lightweights Joseph Duffy and Marc Diakese meet in what ought to be an exciting bout between two strikers. NewsomeMMA first reported the news that Diakese is filling in for the injured Stevie Ray. Duffy (16-3) is 4-2 at the UFC but hasn’t fought since a 2017 KO loss to James Vick. He is among the few guys to defeat Conor McGregor. Diakese (12-3) is 2-3 at the UFC but those three losses came in his last three outings. The UFC is providing Duffy a winnable battle here against a very beatable competition in Diakese, and I fully expect Duffy to open as a sizable favored.
Nathaniel Wood vs. Jose Quinonez, UFC Fight Night 147
Rising bantamweight star Nathaniel Wood will aim to continue his win streak when he takes on Jose Quinonez. Wood (15-3) is on a seven-fight win series complete with entry wins in the UFC over Johnny Eduardo and Andre Ewell. Quinonez (7-2) is currently 4-1 at the UFC and is coming from a decision win over Teruto Ishihara. I know Quinonez is about a nice win streak but to me this is a major mismatch also it looks like a fight the UFC reserved in order to get Wood an impressive win in the front of the English fans.
Danny Henry vs. Dan Ige, UFC Fight Night 147
Featherweights Danny Henry and Dan Ige will meet on this card. Henry (12-2) is on a five-fight win series and is 2-0 at the UFC with a submission win over Hakeem Dawodu in his last outing. Ige (10-2) is 3-1 at the UFC and defeated Jordan Griffin via conclusion in his last bout. Although Ige has been strong from the UFC, I think Henry has the higher ceiling and I would tend to prefer him .
Nad Narimani vs. Mike Grundy, UFC Fight Night 147
Top featherweight prospect Nad Narimani returns this when he chooses on UFC newcomer Mike Grundy. Narimani (12-2) is on a five-fight win streak and is 2-0 thus much in the UFC. Grundy (11-1) is a veteran of ACB and is riding an eight-fight win streak into this occasion. Grundy has a remarkable record but given the level of competition I’d have to prefer Narimani here.
Arnold Allen vs. Jordan Rinaldi, UFC Fight Night 147
And finally, there’s an intriguing featherweight connection between Arnold Allen and Jordan Rinaldi. Allen (13-1) is currently 4-0 in the UFC and is riding a six-fight winning streak overall. However, he’s been hurt and generally fights just once a year. Rinaldi (14-6) is 2-2 in the UFC and is coming off of a decision win over Jason Knight. Even though Allen is coming off of a very long layoff I would still need to prefer him very heavily to conquer Rinaldi.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 150 POST-FIGHT PRESSER NEWS AND NOTES

Uncategorized

September 14, 2019

UFC president Dana White spoke to reporters after UFC Fight Night 150 and answered their queries. Here’s what the boss man had to say in response to this MMA media’s queries:
The bonus for”Fight of the Night” moved to Mike Perry vs. Alex Oliveira, while”Performance of the Night” bonuses went to veterans Glover Teixeira and Jim Miller. White confessed giving out FOTN was a tough choice considering how good the primary event between Jack Hermansson and Ronaldo”Jacare” Souza was, but ultimately said he and the matchmakers reached a unanimous decision to give the incentive to Perry and Oliveira.
White reported the UFC booked Hermansson against Souza since they think he’s gifted, and said he was pleased with the fact”The Joker” was prepared to visit the floor with Souza. He explained the toughness in the matchup of Souza impressed him, but he didn’t get the win.
Hermansson’s win puts him in the title mix at 185lbs, but not until UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and interim UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya attempt to unify the belt later this season. It’s reasonable to say that Hermansson will need at least one more big-name win until he fights for the middleweight belt.
White said he wasn’t a lover of the event between Greg Hardy and Dmitry Smoliakov. He explained the UFC does not do set-up fights, despite what fans and media were saying on the internet about this particular fight, but stated he was very disappointed in Smoliakov’s performance. He did add that Hardy arrived in great shape for the struggle and did his job from getting the win, but White was very critical of Smoliakov’s padded 9-2 record coming to the struggle.
The timing of the NFL draft didn’t have anything related to Hardy being on the crowed. It was because it was at Florida and Hardy trains at American Top Team, according to White.
The UFC was happy with the attendance and gate and plans on coming back to Florida at a certain stage.
White stated the UFC will Mexico and Puerto Rico. The company is considering property and is putting out a business plan for both countries. The UFC is trying to”kickstart the market” by building a performance institute at Puerto Rico, to give jobs to people impacted by the hurricanes.
White credited American Top Team owner Dan Lambert for spending cash to develop the Florida regional MMA scene.
White said he was impressed with Perry’s functionality, and praised how he stayed composed against Oliveira even when he had been hurt. The UFC is very high on Perry and this triumph over Oliveira will push him into the top-15.
The UFC was supposed to meet with Conor McGregor in Miami, but will instead meet with him in Los Angeles shortly.
Tony Ferguson has no return date set but White said he wants to book him as soon as he is cleared to battle.
White reported the UFC’s choice to visit Miami or Ft. Lauderdale the next time they go to Florida will depend on who fights on the card.

ERYK ANDERS VS VINICIUS MOREIRA ONE OF TWO BOUTS ADDED TO UFC ON ESPN 3

Uncategorized

September 13, 2019

Justin Ledet vs. Dalcha Lungiambula, UFC on ESPN 3

A heavyweight bout between Justin Ledet and Dalcha Lungiambula is also scheduled for UFC on ESPN 3. Ledet (9-2, 1 NC) opened his UFC career with three consecutive wins as a heavyweight but has since gone 0-2 since going down to 205lbs, including a brutal 15-second KO loss to Johnny Walker his last time out. Lungiambula (9-1) is making his UFC debut after a five-fight win series in EFC Africa. Though Lungiambula is making his UFC debut, I anticipate bettors to fade Ledet here which should see Lungiambula come in as the betting favorite.
Eryk Anders vs. Vinicius Moreira, UFC on ESPN 3
An injury to Roman Dolidze has bumped him against his projected light heavyweight struggle against Vinicius Moreira at UFC on ESPN 3, and stepping on short note is none other than Eryk Anders, who is in dire need of a win. Anders (11-4) is 3-4 at the UFC and is riding a three-fight losing skid right now which includes a lopsided loss to Khalil Rountree in his final struggle. Moreira (9-2) is coming off of a brutal TKO loss to Alonzo Menifield within his UFC debut that snapped a five-fight win series. Although Anders is on a losing streak and would likewise be fade substance, this is in fact a fight he could win against Moreira, and Anders must probably be heavily favored here.
Joel Alvarez vs. Danilo Belluardo Also, just a little update to the UFC Sweden event. Lightweights Joel Alvarez and Danilo Belluardo will fulfill UFC Fight Night 153, taking place June 1 in Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden. The news broke. Alvarez (15-2) chose to Damir Ismagulov before this year in his UFC debut, which snapped the Spanish fighter’s 10-fight win series. Belluardo (12-3) is making his UFC debut following a six-fight win series. The Italian has experience fighting in Bellator and Venator FC and has come to the UFC with a high pedigree. This conflict of European prospects can go either way, but Belluardo has got all of the momentum right now and will likely be somewhat favored to win this particular battle.

LONGEVITY IN COMBAT SPORTS: MMA VERSUS BOXING

Uncategorized

September 12, 2019

Since the UFC pushes Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to the mainstream, an age old question remains: Why Is MMA safer then boxing? The major premise behind the debate has always been that unlike boxing, in MMA, there are more routes to success compared to striking your opponent. Highlighting the obvious, you will find less debilitating routes to success, therefore making some reductions in MMA less damaging on a fighter’s body and mind. The Unified Rules of MMA make it possible for an MMA fighter to win a bout by judges’ decision or by possibly submitting their competitor. The resulting idea is that MMA athletes suffer fewer traumatic injuries and the odds are lessened that they might become punch drunk. However, proponents of boxing are always quick to point out the bigger gloves employed in MMA and also the fact that the rules allowing for leg elbows and strikes. Therefore”it’s time” to have an in-depth look to either side of this argument. Before getting into the thick of this debate, I’d like to highlight one of the key reasons I chose to write this article. Shawn O’Sullivan, a retired fighter that I’ve met many occasions, lives in my hometown. On paper, his life seems like a success story. However the actual truth is his boxing profession killed his odds of having a successful life after his career was finished. A brief documentary about his story can be found below. Many would believe O’Sullivan’s career marginally illustrious because he was the 1981 World Amateur Champion, 1981 Canadian Athlete of the Year and 1984 Olympic Silver medalist at light middleweight. Also many consider his gold medal bout against Frank Tate very controversial as it appeared like the fix has been in. Despite scoring two standing 8 counts in around two the judges awarded that round to Tate. Upon going expert, he found himself quickly retired in 1988 with failed comebacks in both 1991 and 1997. Shawn’s overall listing of 23-5-0, together with 16 knockouts passed him without accomplishing his dreams of competing in a world title bout. Following four more fights in 1997, a neurologist refused to renew the permit he needed to continue boxing due to brain damage he saw during a CAT scan. Now, O’Sullivan is residing with the difficulties of brain damage, however, he doesn’t regret his career in boxing. During my many discussions with O’Sullivan, he practically always slurred his speech also had difficulties recalling parts of his lifetime. Regrettably, his ability to share his story is all he has to show for his illustrious career. However, that is hindered as a result of the culmination of blows to the head that he endured during his boxing career. O’Sullivan suffers from fighter’s dementia, commonly known as being”punch drunk” caused partially as a result of his fighting style and gruelling sparring sessions at the gym. If you want to find out exactly what I mean, take a few minutes and watch his bout against Armando Martinez. What remains untold to most, and something that highlights the relevance of this article is that O’Sullivan was pushed into boxing by his first coach: his dad. Rumors are his dad was letting his son spar against heavyweights and even bigger guys as part of the daily reality test for O’Sullivan. As parents, an individual may feel uncomfortable recommending your kid partake in any battle sport from this fear of the long term consequences. Therefore signing your child up to either boxing or MMA training can become a question of which can be safer? Is there a possibility you could help select the lesser of two so-called evils. Until recently the whole debate behind MMA is safer then Boxing was entirely theoretical. There remains to be small scientific facts and findings to support the claim. Most recently the University of Alberta’s Dr. Shelby Karpman led a review of over a decade’s worth of health care exams from approximately 1,700 fighters in Edmonton, Canada. According to the study, Fifty-nine percent of MMA athletes sustained some form of harm, compared to 50 per cent of boxers. But, fighters were likely to eliminate consciousness in a bout: seven per cent versus four percent for MMA fighters. Irrespective of the facts to as which game is safer, ” The Canadian Medical Association has called for a ban on both MMA and boxing. By highlighting a 2014 University of Toronto study showed an MMA fighter suffered a traumatic brain injury in almost a third of specialist spells. It is not my intention to cast doubt onto the protection of a game, nevertheless both boxing and MMA have experienced instances of deaths that are well documented. Lately a MMA fighter died due to complications cutting weight. John McCain, who branded the game of MMA”human cockfighting,” sat ringside at the 1995 boxing death of Jimmy Garcia. However, very few severe life threatening injuries in MMA come into mind as no one have happened on its main stage. A fighter’s passing within the Octagon has never happened and hopefully it never will. But it’s something which must be in the back of everybody’s mind once we see fighters getting knocked out lifelessly. Rendering an opponent not only defenceless but unconscious remains to be the name of the fight game if it’s MMA or Boxing. That is where a fighter’s fanfare, bonus money and constant hype derives. UFC President Dana White announced MMA the”safest sport in the world, fact.” The concept that MMA is the most popular sport in the entire world is mad. Tennis, golf, track and field, swimming… Are all”safer” sports because they lack head trauma all together and present little risk of death. Touting up safety should include a responsibility to fully study the ramifications of your game. The construction on what will be known as the UFC Athlete Health and Performance Center starts this shortly and will take 15 months to complete. Next to health insurance for training injuries, this is MMA’s second most important step towards taking on more of a top role in sport security. With that said, Dana’s end game is that Scientific study will eventually brand MMA as a”safer” choice for fight sport athletes when compared with boxing. However, it would just further the game’s inverse relationship. Since MMA increases in popularity, boxing’s visibility at the national consciousness continues to fall and it’s easy to finger stage. It also can not be stressed enough that the first generation of fighters are just getting out of the game over the last couple of years. Science has an incredibly small sample dimension to check at in terms of aging MMA fighters right now, though UFC originals such as Gary Goodridge are already feeling the consequences. We probably still need a few more”generations” of fighters to retire and grow old to have an actual feel for the effects of the sport on them as they age. And by that I mean fighters who have had to compete with other high level athletes, not boxers who had been the best of a sport that was very much in the developmental phases. Fighters like George St Pierre, Demetrious Johnson and Ronda Rousey are unlikely to face any longstanding consequences of brain injury primarily due to their runs of desire as well as their capacity to prevent substantial harm. Johnson recently said on the Joe Rogan Expertise that”There is not enough money in the world for me to risk brain damage” Johnson, like many other educated fighters, understands that taking too much damage in his career will harm his longevity both inside and outside the game, and that’s why he is so aware of his security in the Octagon. Maybe that is the main reason he’s never lost consciousness from the Octagon. Whatever the case, it’s tough to utilize findings of the past to determine the safety of the sport now. So much constantly changes within the sport of MMA that trying to compare between eras is essentially the exact same in attempting to compare very different sports. Maybe then a much better approach isn’t to look at the sport’s past, and instead on its present as time goes on. The debate about which sport is safer because of the glove size is moot. The quantity of punishment a fighter takes over their livelihood is individualistic and highly dependent on a fighter’s style. The main selling point as to why MMA is safer than boxing is actually the glove size. The boxing glove was created to protect the hands, not the person being punched. However MMA professionals assert that they use the bare minimum in hand protection. Any argument surrounding the fact that a hand will crack until the mind is not the most attractive approach to advocate for a safer game. The same holds for the standing eight count. Arguing that allowing a concussed fighter to continue in a fight after being knocked down just furthers brain trauma. In MMA we see a lot follow up punches following a fighter is left unconscious — maybe equally damaging to permitting a fighter to continue after receiving devastating blows. There are so many factors in determining the devastation of a landed punch–from technique to timing, to whether or not the receiver saw the punch coming–that it would be virtually impossible to determine in a live match that glove size could have caused the maximum harm. What’s more, there are a number of different elements and rules that deciding on which sport is safer. The average duration of a Boxing match is normally longer then that of an MMA fight. There are many variables that are individualistic to the fighter. I’d like to announce each game equally as dangerous, but until additional research is completed, an individual can not create this kind of statement with much assurance. The inherent dangers in both sports are intrinsically linked. The capability of a fighter to achieve longevity in the sport is more dependant on the abilities of this fighter themselves then their respective sports parameters alone. Generalizing which is safer with no scientific proof to support such a claim remains a matter of opinion.

NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award

Uncategorized

September 12, 2019

The National Basketball Association All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an Yearly National Basketball Association (NBA) award given to the player(s) voted best of This annual All-Star Game.

The award was established in 1953 when NBA officials made a decision to designate an MVP for every year’s match. The team also re-honored players in the preceding two Games. Ed Macauley and Paul Arizin were chosen as the 1951 and 1952 MVP winners . The voting is conducted by a panel of media members, who throw their vote after the ending of the game. The player(s) together with the most votes or ties to the most votes wins the award. No All-Star Game MVP was called in 1999 since the game was canceled due to the league’s lockout. As of 2019, the most recent recipient is Golden State Warrior forward Kevin Durant.
Bob Pettit and Kobe Bryant are the only two players to win the All-Star Game MVP four times. Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, and LeBron James have each won the award three times, while Bob Cousy, Julius Erving, Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Allen Iverson, Russell Westbrook, along with Kevin Durant have all won the award twice. James’ first All-Star MVP at 2006 made him the youngest to have won the award at the age of 21 years, 1 month. Kyrie Irving, winner of the 2014 All-Star Game MVP, is the second-youngest in 21 years, 10 months. They are notable as being both youngest to win the award, both as Cleveland Cavaliers. Four of the matches had joint champions –Elgin Baylor and Pettit in 1959, John Stockton and Malone in 1993, O’Neal and Tim Duncan in 2000, and O’Neal and Bryant in 2009. O’Neal became the first player in All-Star background to discuss two MVP awards as well as the first player to win the award with multiple teams. The Los Angeles Lakers have had eleven winners while the Boston Celtics have experienced eight. Duncan of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Irving of Australia will be the sole winners never born in the United States. Both Duncan and Irving[a] are American citizens, but are considered”global” players by the NBA since they were not born in one of the fifty states or Washington, D.C. No player trained entirely beyond the U.S. has won the award; Irving lived at the U.S. since age two, and Duncan played with U.S. school basketball at Wake Forest.
Bob Pettit (1958, 1959) and Russell Westbrook (2015, 2016) are the only players to win successive awards. Pettit (1956), Bob Cousy (1957), Wilt Chamberlain (1960), Bill Russell (1963), Oscar Robertson (1964), Willis Reed (1970), Dave Cowens (1973), Michael Jordan (1988, 1996, 1998), Magic Johnson (1990), Shaquille O’Neal (2000), and Allen Iverson (2001) all won the All-Star Game MVP and the NBA Most Valuable Player Award in precisely the same period; Jordan is the only participant to do this multiple times. [7] 14 players have won the award playing for the team which hosted the All-Star Game: Macauley (1951), Cousy (1957), Pettit (1958, 1962), Chamberlain (1960), Adrian Smith (1966), Rick Barry (1967), Jerry West (1972), Tom Chambers (1987), Michael Jordan (1988), Karl Malone (1993), John Stockton (1993), O’Neal (2004, 2009), Bryant (2011) and Davis (2017); Pettit and O’Neal did so multiple times. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has the distinction of playing in the most All-Star Games (18) without winning the All-Star Game MVP, while Adrian Smith won the MVP in his just All-Star Game.

POST-UFC 211: ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK

Uncategorized

September 12, 2019

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Dallas, TX for the fifth time in promotional history Saturday (May 13, 2017) with UFC 211: Miocic vs. Dos Santos II. It was a good night of scraps that saw six of 12 bouts end by finish, with one fight leading to a No-Contest and five viewing the judges’ scorecards for a choice. With UFC 211 now in our rear perspective, let us take a look at that of the evening’s competitors we might no longer see inside the Octagon…

Aguilar came up short on the judges’ scorecards this past weekend, losing a choice to Cortney Casey. She’s now on winless in the UFC and a two-fight losing streak. Now, I think it is 50/50 as to whether the promotion lets her go back into the World collection of Struggling, or possibly Bellator or brings her back. My very best guess is that she’ll get another shot but I would not be at all surprised to see her walking papers were functioned along with by her.
