Week Three Starts with the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Tennessee Titans, exclusively live on Sky Sports Action and Main Event.
Here is what to expect…
Who are the Tennessee Titans (1-1)? Can you figure them out? After obliterating the Browns – together using Marcus Mariota casting for 248 yards and three touchdown passes – they flopped in Week 2.
It is, ultimately, typical for a staff which has gone to be erratic this way. They have been able to top the Jaguars.
The Jags (0-2) have had a heartbreaking start. They believed they had acquired a company quarterback to repair their woes at the place in Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles. However, he also suffered a broken collarbone in the first quarter of this season and has been put on injured reserve.
In his stead, sixth-round select Gardner Minshew has performed incredibly well (45-58, 488 yards, three touchdowns and one pick) but has not managed to get the team on the line for a win.
The Jags dropped to Kansas City however had the match in their palms against the Texans last week. But a conversion after Minshew’s last-gasp TD to DJ Chark meant a 13-12 loss.
Marcus Mariota is as bemusing as a whole since the Titans. He’s one of four quarterbacks (Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson and Case Keenum) to begin both games and have no giveaways this season and is on pace for career highs in passer rating, yards a week and TD:INT ratio. But he couldn’t come through when it mattered and had only 154 yards.
Last time these two teams met, Derrick Henry ran to get a franchise-record 238 yards and four touchdowns, which comprised a NFL record-tying 99-yard TD run. Over the previous six weeks dating back into this game, he also leads the NFL in rushing yards (750) and touchdowns (nine).
The Titans have ball-hawks about the defensive back. Logan Ryan has a choice in each of the first two matches, although Kevin Byard has the most interceptions (13) in the league since 2017.
Can Gardner Minshew last his career start? The charismatic 23-year-old had the highest-ever completion percentage (88) in a debut in NFL history in Week One, and led a fantastic comeback drive a week.
The team weapon on the outside so far has been receiver DJ Chark, who has 201 yards, 11 catches and two touchdowns already last season. He’s a deep threat.
Outspoken cornerback Jalen Ramsey has been in the spotlight this week requesting a trade and after locking horns with head coach Doug Marrone during the loss of last week. The group is thought to have”no plans” to let him move, so does he match? Can he rebel so as to get out or show out? Cameras will be trained on him all evening.
This match could define Marrone’s long run . With their season at stake, can the players come flying out and make an effort to conserve their trainer? Or do they lack motivation after the near-miss of last week? Performance and their commitment for a team is crucial.
When the Titans can have an early lead, search for them to pound the ball and also make it five straight.
